
SCSU Women’s Swim & Dive Finishes Third at NSIC Championships

400-yard freestyle relay team earns all-conference honors with runner-up finish
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Women's Swim & Dive finished the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships in third place with 646 points on Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Huskies finished the meet strong with eight top-eight finishes, including an all-conference performance from the team's 400-yard freestyle relay team who finished second.

Augustana finished the NSIC Championships in first place with 948.5 points, while Minnesota State (865.5) and St. Cloud State (646) finished in second and third place, respectively. Sioux Falls finished in fourth place with 607 points while Concordia St. Paul finished in fifth place with 378 points.

The Huskies will next compete in the NCAA Swim & Dive Championships, set for March 13-16 in Geneva, Ohio.

- SCSU's 400-yard freestyle relay of sophomore Alba Silva Alcoba (Amposta, Spain), junior Anna Reschko (Frankfurt, Germany), junior Kendall Gonzalez (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Meredith Bangs (Muskego, Wis.) earned all-conference honors with a runner-up finish at 3:28.23.
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, sophomore Claire Salzer (Oshkosh, Wis.) finished fourth at 2:23.19 while senior Kara Cowell (Neenah, Wis.) finished sixth at 2:26.45.
- The Huskies finished fifth and sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle with junior Ruthie Lucht (Tempe, Ariz.) at 17:43.80 and sophomore Izzy Koebele (Bismarck, N.D.) at 17:49.81.
- Junior Kailey Fossell (Tower, Minn.) finished fifth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 387.60.
- In the 100-yard IM, sophomore Natalie Gneiser (Baraboo, Wis.) finished sixth at 59.12.
- In the 100-yard freestyle, Bangs finished eighth at 52.32. The eighth-place finish was the fourth top-eight finish in an individual event of the meet for Bangs.
The Huskies will next compete in the NCAA Swim & Dive Championships, set for March 13-16 in Geneva, Ohio.
