BEMIDJI, Minn. — The St. Cloud State women's hockey team (17-15-2, 12-14-2 WCHA) took down conference foe Bemidji State (4-28-2, 3-24-1 WCHA) by a score of 6-2 in their last regular season game on Saturday.
Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) started scoring at the 18:27 mark of the first period. While Sundelin scored in the shootout last weekend, her goal in game two against Bemidji State was her first official collegiate goal.
Following Sundelin's goal, the Beavers scored back-to-back goals in just about two minutes to start the second period. While the Beavers took the lead, it was short lived as the Huskies would score two of their own in the middle frame to jump to 3-1.
The third period saw three goals coming from Ella Anick (Hermantown, Minn.), Emma Gentry, and Katie Kaufman (Lake Elmo, Minn.) to put the Huskies up by a score of 6-2.
The Huskies did not get called for any penalties in game two but they would draw two penalties as Olivia Dronen would get called twice for interference. St. Cloud State tallied three shots on goal on each power play attempt but went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Both Emma Gentry and Greta Henderson (Regina, Saskatchewan) found success in the faceoff circle in game two. Gentry went 11-for-20 while Henderson went 4-for-5. Dayle Ross (Spirit River, Alberta) led the team in plus/minus with a plus-4 mark in game two.
