
#10 Huskies Take on the First Round of WCHA Playoffs at #8 Minnesota-Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — The St. Cloud State women's hockey team (17-15-2, 12-14-2 WCHA) is set for the first series of conference playoffs. The Huskies will take part in a best-of-three series against the University of Minnesota-Duluth (18-12-4, 15-11-2 WCHA) this Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday. Puck drop is set for 4:00 p.m. CT on Friday, 3:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, and if needed, 3:00 p.m. CT on Sunday.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bulldogs and the Huskies are very familiar with each other. They have met 111 times dating back to the 1999-00 season. The teams met four times during the regular season, where the Huskies went 1-2-1. The Huskies and the Bulldogs met just two weeks ago and only one goal was scored in regulation as the Bulldogs picked up the win on Friday by a score of 1-0.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) has just been named the WCHA Forward of the Week and the Howies Hockey Tape Performer of the Week. Last weekend versus Bemidji State, Gentry notched a goal on Friday night and three goals on Saturday. Gentry has also been named to the All-WCHA Third Team with 12 goals, 6 assists, and 18 points on the regular season.
Taylor Larson (Nisswa, Minn.) is also coming off of a spectacular weekend versus her former team. Larson was awarded the WCHA Defender of the week after blocking two shots and tallying one goal and one assist.
Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) is a finalist for the Hockey Coaches Association's Goaltender of the Year Award. In addition, she has just been named to the All-WCHA First Team after posting a 1.51 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage during the regular season.
