
St. Cloud State Baseball Drops Series Opener to Missouri Western

Fuchs pitches five scoreless frames, Gumbko extends hit streak to four to open season
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – St. Cloud State Baseball (1-3, 0-0 NSIC) fell to Missouri Western (3-2, 0-0 MIAA), 5-0, in the series opener on Friday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo. The Huskies gave up runs in the first and third inning before senior Grady Fuchs (Paynesville, Minn.) came in and pitched five scoreless innings in relief.
The Griffons scored a pair of runs in the first and three runs in the third inning, both on home runs, for the only scoring in the game. Fuchs came on in the fourth inning and allowed only two hits with five strike outs in five inning, shutting down the Grifs to give SCSU a shot.
The Huskies had threats going in the third and fourth innings but left two runners on in each inning while failing to plate any runs.

- Ogbourne recorded his first career stolen base in the game.
