ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Team (15-13-1, 10-12-1 WCHA) was taken down by No. 5 Minnesota (23-5-1, 17-5-1 WCHA) at home on Friday night.
Period number one was even on both ends as neither team took a penalty or found the back of the net. Maddy Peterson (Princeton, Minn.) would get called for tripping at the 13:33 mark of the second period. Gopher Abbey Murphy would capitalize on the man advantage to put Minnesota up by one.
The Gophers only took one penalty in game one of the series and allowed the Huskies just one shot on goal. Murphy would be the lone goal scorer for either team as the Gophers took down the Huskies by a score of 1-0.
Peterson, Emma Gentry, and Laura Zimmermann would each take penalties for St. Cloud State but the Huskies held the Gophers at four power play shots on goal.
Ella Anick, Dayle Ross, and Taylor Larson each recorded three blocks in game one. Four Huskies recorded three shots on goal but none of them were able to beat netminder Skylar Vetter.
NOTABLES
- The Gophers held Gentry to zero shots on goal
- Jojo Chobak made 19 saves
