
St. Cloud State Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Concordia-St. Paul

Jacobson hits pair of homers in 15-5 win in second half of doubleheader
GAME 1: CSP 12, SCSU 11
After giving up three runs in the first inning, SCSU took the lead after scoring four runs in the third inning after an RBI single from senior Drew Beier (Foley, Minn.), a two-run double from junior Sawyer Smith (Somers, Wis.) and a sacrifice fly from junior Ethan Navratil (Albany, Minn.). The Huskies then extended their lead to 9-4 with five runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning.
The Golden Bears then mounted an eight-run comeback in the sixth inning to take a 12-11 lead and then shut down the Huskies in the seventh inning for the win.

- SCSU scored 10 or more runs for the seventh time this season.
- Smith extended his hitting streak to seven games while recording his ninth multi-RBI game of the season.
- Beier recorded his eighth multi-RBI game of the season while extending his hit streak to eight games.
- James matched a season-high with three runs while recoding his 12th multi-hit game of the season.
SCSU left no doubt in the second game, jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a two-run single from Navratil and a three-run home run from junior Blaine Guthrie (Emerald, Wis.). The Huskies then extended its lead to 9-0 in the third inning with a solo home run from Navratil and a three-run home run from redshirt sophomore Brayden Jacobson (West Fargo, N.D.). Jacobson then tacked on his second homer of the game with a two-run shot in the fifth inning before SCSU scored two runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Junior Kaden Pfeffer (Racine, Wis.) made his first start with the Huskies and earned the win, as he went five innings and gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out four. Senior Cooper Avery (Fort Myers, Fla.) came on in relief and pitched three innings to earn the save, shutting down the Golden Bears while only allowing two hits.

- Redshirt junior Garrett Bevacqua (Carlsbad, Calif.) set a season-best with three runs.
St. Cloud State will host U-Mary for a three-game series in its next time out, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 and one game on Sunday, April 14 at Joe Faber Field.
