St. Cloud State Track & Field Posts Four Event Victories, 19 Top-Five Finishes at CSB Quad

Christenson, Lavato and Thompson capture event wins while Huskies record nine personal bests, three season bests on Friday in Collegeville
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field competed at the CSB Quad, hosted by St. John's and St. Benedict at the Donald McNeely Spectrum on Friday. The Huskies won four events, posted 19 top-five finishes, recorded nine personal records and three season best marks.
Fifth year sprinter Katie Lavato (Buffalo, Minn.) won both of her events, the 100 meters and 200 meters. She ran the fastest qualifying time by 0.32 seconds and the fastest time in the finals by 0.31. Her finals time (7.77) was just 0.01 off her personal best. She also won the 200 meters by an impressive 0.93 seconds, coming just .12 off her indoor personal best time.
Senior jumper/middle distance runner Makaylin Christenson (Prarie Farm, Wis.) took the high jump title after clearing 1.55m/5-1 and finished third in the 600 meters after running a new season's best time of 1:44.4. Sophomore sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.) claimed the long jump crown after leaping a season's best 5.34m/17-6.25, finished second in the high jump (1.50m/4-11) and finished fifth in the 60 hurdles after running a personal best time in the prelims (9.95).
Freshman jumper/sprinter Kinsey Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) collected three top-five finishes. She was second in the long jump after recording a personal best jump of 5.20m/17-0.25 and third in both the 60 hurdles (10.02) and high jump (1.50m/4-11). Additionally, her 60 hurdles prelim time was a new personal best (9.86).
Sophomore distance runner Alena Donahue (West Salem, Wis.) recorded a pair of third place finishes, running a new personal best in the mile (5:28.38) and running a near personal best time in the 3,000 meters (11:06.50).
Freshman jumper/sprinter Zaria Stapleton (Nassau, Bahamas) finished second in the 60 meters (8.08), improving off her fourth-place finish in the prelims. Freshman sprinter Jayla Patterson was fifth in the 60 meters finals in a new personal best time of 8.31. Freshman multi-event athlete Kaylee Cooper (Loudon, Tenn.) ran new personal best times in the 200 meters (29.29) and 400 meters (1:09.44).
Sophomore thrower Hannah Bruskiewicz (Rogers, Minn.) recorded a personal best in the weight throw (11.93m/39-1.75) and finished third in the shot put after posting a season best mark of 11.88m/38-11.75. Sophomore thrower Alicia Jennissen (Sauk Centre, Minn.) finished fifth in the weight throw with a new personal best toss of 13.45m/44-1.5.
Sophomore sprinter Viola Okey-Ezealah (Part-Harcourt, Nigeria) was third in the 200 meters (27.79) and freshman distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) was fourth in the 400 meters (1:05.49).
Alea Briggs ran her first race in a Huskies uniform, finishing fourth in the 800 meters (2:37.03).
