The Huskies embarked on their first conference road trip of the season as they took on Purdue Northwest and Roosevelt.
Against Purdue Northwest on Friday, the Pride got off to a fast start in the game as Landon Potts gave PNW a 1-0 lead at the 3:55 mark of the first half. St. Cloud State found their footing defensively after the early goal as they held the Pride to only two more shots on goal, both saved by keeper Ramy Atia. SCSU struggled to offensively as they mustered only one shot attempt in the first half, which would come on goal. The Huskies got out shot 11-1 in the first half as they went into the break down 1-0.
Coming out of halftime, the Pride again struck early as Roman Lynch gave them a 2-0 advantage in the 58th minute. St. Cloud State started to pick up the pace and urgency as the offense found footing. The Huskies notched nine shots in the second half with three corner kicks as they created scoring chances. Their lone goal would come in the 88th minute as Owen Worsdell drew a foul in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Andrés García stepped up and fired a shot left and low that found the back of the net to put the Huskies on the board. In the final two minutes, SCSU pushed the Pride back into their defending zone and nearly came away with a turnover to secure possession. Purdue Northwest held on to defeat the Huskies 2-1.
Against Rosevelt on Sunday, St. Cloud State opened up the game with some juice on both sides of the ball. The Huskies were able to work the ball into the Roosevelt zone and apply pressure on their backline defense. SCSU came away with four shots in the first half with two landing on goal. Defensively, the Huskies were strong in the backline as Roosevelt produced six shots with only one landing on goal. The game would be tied 0-0 headed into halftime.
The second half saw a similarly paced defensive half as neither team were able to break the tie. The Huskies made a late aggressive offensive push as they went for the win. They found themselves deep into Roosevelt territory on multiple occasions and a shot by Matt Greenland in the 79th minute missed just wide as SCSU was unable to take advantage of a great scoring chance. After another attacking chance by the Huskies, Roosevelt cleared the ball and pushed the tempo on a counterattack. Caco Fernandez worked his way down the field and found Fynn Mewes who broke the tie. The Huskies were unable to find the equalizer as they were defeated 1-0 against the Lakers.
