No. 11 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Falls to No. 3 Gophers on Senior Day

Huskies allow two third period goals, drop series finale to Minnesota, 2-1
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (15-11-6, 10-11-5 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) dropped its senior day game against No. 3 Minnesota on Saturday afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, 2-1, after allowing two third period goals.
Just over four minutes into the game, fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) scored her second goal of the weekend to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead. The game went scoreless for the next 40 minutes before the Gophers (23-9-1, 17-8-1 WCHA) scored two in quick succession early in the third period to steal SCSU's senior day game, 2-1.

The Huskies travel to Columbus, Ohio to play No. 2 Ohio State (23-6-3, 17-6-3 WCHA) in their final regular season series on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22. - Emma Gentry scored the Huskies lone goal and won a team-high 13 faceoffs. She was named the game's third star.
- Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) made 37 saves (.949 save percentage) and only allowed one even-strength goal.
- Senior defender Dayle Ross (Spirit River, Alberta) and redshirt sophomore forward Laura Zimmermann (Ringgenberg, Switzerland) recorded assists on Gentry's goal. Ross also recorded a game-high three blocks.
- SCSU moves to 6-108-4 all-time against Minnesota and 4-45-2 against the Gophers in St. Cloud. The Huskies finished the season series 2-2-0 against the "U".
- SCSU's longest win streak ever against the Gophers (two games) was snapped.
- The Huskies blocked 11+ shots for the ninth time this season and saved 37+ shots for the fifth time.
- SCSU led the game in saves (37-29) and blocked shots (11-8), while the Gophers led in shots (39-30) and faceoff wins (39-24).
- The Huskies power play went 0-for-3 and their penalty kill went 2-for-3.
- Gentry netted her 10th goal of the season and 56th of her career. She is the second Husky to score 10 goals this season. She skated in her 148th career game, taking sole possession of fourth place on the career games played list. She took sole possession of 11th for career points, with 86. She won 13+ faceoffs for the fifth time this season and surpassed 300 faceoff wins for the season.
- Ahola recorded 37+ saves for the fourth time this season.
- Ross tallied her 11th assist of the season, which ranks second on the team and first among defenders. She blocked 3+ shots for the fifth time this season and second game in a row. She skated to a +1 mark, moving to a +10 mark for the season (six clear of the next SCSU skater).
- Zimmermann recorded her seventh assist of the season, which ranks fifth on the team. She skated in her 65th career game.
- Senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) blocked 2 shots. She has blocked 2+ shots in 14 games this season.
- Fifth year forward Avery Myers (Fargo, N.D.) skated in her 140th career game.
- Senior forward Abby Promersberger (Fargo, N.D.) skated in her 135th career game.
- Junior forward Svenja Voigt (Cologne, Germany) skated in her 85th career game.
