St. Cloud State Baseball and Adams State Splits Doubleheader to Finish Series

Navratil hits home run and career-best five RBI in 14-3 win
GAME 1 – SCSU 14, AS 3
Moreno led off the game with a home run, his first long ball of the season. Then, just three batters later, Navratil launched his second home run of the season on a two-run blast to right field. SCSU would tack on two more runs in the opening inning with an RBI single from junior Taehyung Kim (Marana, Ariz.) and a sacrifice fly RBI from redshirt junior Brayden Jacobson (West Fargo, N.D.).
The Huskies scored runs in the each of the first six innings of the game, scoring two in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. Navratil added two more RBI with a single in the second and then his fifth of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Moreno had a sacrifice fly of his own in the third and then a double to score Jacobson in the sixth.
Redshirt junior Cael Kolacia (Fort Dodge, Iowa) toed the rubber for the Huskies to start the game and went three innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three. With the Huskies leading 12-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Kolacia gave way to junior Cole Bakkum (Eau Claire, Wis.), who pitched three innings and earned his first career win. Bakkum pitched three scoreless innings with two strikeouts while allowing just two hits and three walks.

- Navratil set a career-high with five RBI in the game, surpassing his previously career high of four set most recently against Minnesota Duluth on April 29, 2023.
- Navratil's home run was his 21st career long ball, as he joins the SCSU career top-10 list for home runs, tying Matt Anthony (1988-91).
- Moreno had his second three-hit game of the season and set a new season-high in RBI with three.
- Sophomore Wilmis Castro (San Juan, Puerto Rico) had a season-high three hits and scored two runs.
- Jacobson matched a career-best with two stolen bases.
- Bakkum recorded his first career win as a Husky.
The second game was much different, as the bats cooled for the Huskies with their only runs in the game coming in the fourth on a two-run single from Kim. Adams State scored three runs in the second inning, two in the third and one in the fifth then shut down the Huskies for the 6-2 win.

- Kim extended his hit streak to four consecutive games and finished the series hitting .529 (9-for-17) with seven RBI.
- Navratil extended his hit streak to 10 games as he has now hit safely in every game but the first game of the season and is hitting a career-best .333 through 11 games.
SCSU will next travel to Kirksville, Mo., for its final nonconference series of the season, set for a three-game series March 7-9.
