Lieser Tosses No-No Against Sioux Falls at the Dome

Minneapolis, Minn. - St. Cloud State University senior Scott Lieser added another no-hitter to his Husky resume with a well-crafted 10-0 win over Sioux Falls in the NSIC opener on March 22 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
Lieser had four strikeouts in the seven-inning complete game performance and just missed a perfect game with only one hit batter allowed in the game.
The Huskies had three runs in the first inning to gain the early lead. SCSU went on to complete the game with two runs in the second, two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth. In total, SCSU had 12 hits in the game, while USF had no hits and three errors.
Eric Loxtercamp was three-for-four in the game with a double, RBI and three runs. Sean Borman was two-of-two with two walks, two runs and an RBI in the contest. Mike Jurgella also had two RBIs in the game.
In game two, SCSU moved to 13-2 on the season with a big 10-2 victory over USF. The Huskies owned a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning and then iced the game with a five-run eighth inning. USF scored one run in the fifth and one run in the ninth.
SCSU rocked with 16 hits in the game, while USF had six hits.
Borman had one RBI, two hits and an inside the park home run for the Huskies. Jurgella also had two hits in the game along with three runs and two RBIs. Travis Enger turned in a big night for SCSU going 4-of-4 with three RBIs.
On the mound, Chris Kubitz gained the win with seven innings of work that included three strikeouts and five hits allowed. Nick Maiers and Ryan Diers each added one inning of relief work to finish the game.
"Lieser was dominate and Kubitz threw the ball the best he has in two years," SCSU coach Pat Dolan said. "If be can continue to throw like that in a starter's role it's going to be a huge bonus for us.
"This is the type of team we know we can be. Yes we are only two losses from being 13-0, but we really haven't clicked on all cylinders offensively like last night. Even many of our outs were quality hard hit at bats. We need to continue this approach at the plate."
