SCSU Women's Hockey falls 5-3 against Lindenwood

The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team lost a 5-3 decision against Lindenwood University on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. The non-conference loss moved SCSU's season record to 1-3-0, 0-0-0 WCHA, while Lindenwood improved to 1-3-0, 0-0-0 CHA in 2014-15.
The Lions opened the game's scoring with a goal by Shara Jasper at 3:07 of the first period. The Huskies knotted the score at 1-1 with a power play marker by Payge Pena at 16:32 of the first period. Her goal was assisted by Abby Ness and Molly Illikainen.
Lindenwood rallied with three unanswered goals to gain the game's upper hand. To finish the first period, the Lions' Katie Erickson scored on the power play at 18:24. Jordyn Constance made it 3-1 with her goal at 9:37 of the second period before Lindenwood stretched its lead to 4-1 with a goal by Leah Elledge at 14:24 of the second period.
In the final period, SCSU's Amanda Arbogast got the Huskies back into the fray with a pair of goals. Her first goal was charted at 4:16 of the third with a single assist from Audrey Hanmer. Arbogast added her second goal at 14:01 of the third period with an assist from teammate Christa Moody.
Lindenwood ended the Huskies' rally with an empty net goal by Britannia Gillanders at 19:05 of the third period.
In the contest, SCSU outshot the Lions 28-20 in the game. Julie Friend was the goalie of record in the game with 12 saves for the Huskies. Teammate Katie Fitzgerald played the final period of the game for the Huskies with three saves to her credit. Nicole Hensley had 25 saves for the Lions.
On the power play, SCSU was 1-of-6 and Lindenwood was 1-of-4.
