SCSU Baseball Falls 2-0 in NSIC Opener

Omaha, Neb. - The St. Cloud State University baseball team (11-4, 0-1 NSIC) opened its 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season with a 2-0 loss against Winona State University on Saturday, March 22. Â The game was played today in Omaha, Neb.
On a pre-determined decision by the two teams before the first game, the second game was cancelled due to the cold weather conditions in Omaha tonight.
The Huskies outhit Winona State in the contest by a 10-3 margin as Mike Jurgella was 2-of-4 and Zak Hoffman also went 2-of-4 in the contest for SCSU. Â The pitcher of record in the contest for St. Cloud State was senior pitcher Kyle Fischer.
SCSU will continue its season on March 23 with a pair of games against Winona State. Â The doubleheader will be played in Omaha, Neb. and the action begins at Noon.
