Baseball Set to Host Bemidji State in Home Opener, April 25-26

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud State baseball (28-9, 16-6 NSIC) is finally set to host their 2014 series home opener on April 25-26 as they will play host to the Bemidji State Beavers after playing 37 games on the road. Friday's twin bill will get underway at 5 p.m. from Dassel, Minnesota with Saturday's first pitch set for 2 p.m. from Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.

Last time out the Huskies collided with the Minnesota State Mavericks in a key NSIC match-up on Wednesday, April 23rd where Minnesota State took the series winning 3-1 and 12-2.
The Beavers (18-15, 12-8 NSIC) are led by sophomore Joey Hanowski who is batting .360 (36-for-100) including seven doubles and one home run. Following closely behind is sophomore Tyler Nelson with a .358 batting average (39-for-109) recording four doubles and one triple. On the mound, junior Tyler Saeugling owns a 3-4 record and a team-best 3.78 ERA. His 38 strikeouts ranks tied for 15th amongst the league. Junior Drake Huggans' seven saves is tied for second in the NSIC.
In the polls, the Huskies have moved up in three of four polls from their previous rankings last week. St. Cloud is now ranked seventh in the d2baseballnews.com, eighth in the College Baseball Lineup and ninth in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper polls. The Huskies sit ranked 22nd in the NCBWA poll nationally and fourth in the central region.
The Huskies series on Friday against the Beavers has been designated as Alumni, Faculty-Staff and Military Appreciation Day, while Saturday's series has been designated as Parents' Day.
