#2 St. Cloud State adds two more wins with sweep of Minot

The #2 St. Cloud State University baseball team (39-3, 23-3 NSIC) stretched its current unbeaten streak to nine consecutive games with a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Minot State University (11-26, 8-18 NSIC) on Saturday, April 25 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. Â The Huskies scored a 6-0 win in game one and then charted an 11-1 win in seven innings in game two against the Beavers.
The Huskies will complete their weekend series against Minot State with an NSIC twinbill at Joe Faber Field on Sunday, April 26. Â This will be fan appreciation day at Joe Faber Field and a variety of excellent game promotions will be offered during the contests. Â The SCSU seniors will also be recognized during the games as it will be the final regular season home appearance for the 2015 seniors at SCSU. Â The action gets underway at Noon and tickets for these games are available at the gate.
In game one on April 25, the Huskies notched the game winning runs with two runs in the first inning. Â The Huskies padded the lead to 3-0 with another run in the third before completing the run with two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth. Â SCSU outhit the Beavers 12-7 in the game as Reese Gregory tossed the complete game shutout, which featured 10 strikeouts and seven hits allowed.
At the plate, Mike Jurgella had two hits, while Karl Sorensen had two hits along with Zak Hoffman and Kyle Lieser. Â Zach Hoffmann added two RBUs for the Huskies, while Eric Loxtercamp posted two runs in the game.

In the nightcap, SCSU outhit Minot State 15-7 and controlled the game's tempo from the first inning with two runs scored. Â SCSU added two more runs in the bottom of the second and four runs in the third to gain an 8-0 lead. Â Minot score its lone run in the fourth inning before SCSU pushed its lead to 10-1 with two more runs in the fifth inning. Â The Huskies then scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning, which ended the game due to the 10-run rule at 11-1.
Loxtercamp was pivotal in the game with two hits and four runs scored, while Jurgella provided two hits and six RBIs. Â Kyle Lieser turned in a top game with three hits and three runs and Karl Sorensen charted two RBI and two hits in the game along with two hits from Beau Fandel. Â On the mound, Kevin Bolder was the pitcher of record with four strikeouts and seven hits allowed over the first 6.0 innings. Â Garrett Anderson completed the game with 1.0 inning of work that featured two strikeouts.
