#2 St. Cloud State baseball improves to 41-3 with wins on Apr. 26

The #2 St. Cloud State University baseball team pushed its 2015 season record to 41-3, 25-3 NSIC with a doubleheader sweep over Minot State University (11-28, 8-20 NSIC) on Sunday, April 26 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. Â The Huskies charted a 7-0 win in game one and then finished the day with a 12-2 victory in game two. Â The second game was ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
The victories helped the Huskies maintain their position atop the NSIC standings as the teams head into the final week of regular season play in the conference. Â The Huskies will finish up their league schedule with a doubleheader at Minnesota Duluth on April 29 and then a pair of doubleheaders at Northern State University on May 1-2.
In game one, SCSU scored one run apiece in the first three innings to gain a 3-0 lead. Â The Huskies stretched the lead to 5-0 with a pair of runs in the fourth and then finished the game with two more runs in the sixth inning. Â
Sheldon Miks was the pitcher of record for the Huskies with a complete game two-hitter that included seven strikeouts in the game. Â SCSU outhit the Beavers 12-2 in the game. Â
At the plate, Eric Loxtercamp, Brandon Arnold, Karl Sorensen and Beau Fandel all had two hits apiece in the game, while Zach Hoffmann and Zak Hoffman each had two RBIs in the game.

In the nightcap, SCSU outhit Minot 15-7 in the game. Â Starter Ryan Diers was the winning pitcher for SCSU with 11 strikeouts and seven hits allowed in six innings of work. Â Tyler Gentz and Karsen Forsman completed the game in the top of the seventh inning for the Huskies.
Loxtercamp, Arnold and Jurgella all had three hits in the game. Â Jurgella had four RBIs to pace the Huskies, while Arnold also had two RBIs in the game. Â Fandel notched two hits in the game including a three-run homer and a double for the Huskies. Â Of note, Arnold scored three runs in the game along with two runs apiece by Loxtercamp, Jurgella and Kyle Lieser.
