Softball Wins 7-4 Over Nebraska-Kearney

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team matched up against Nebraska-Kearney in the first day of the Kelly Laas Invitational. The Huskies defeated the Lopers, 7-4.
Abby Bunnell (Maple Grove, Minn.) was two for four from the plate and recorded one RBI.
Libby Bingham (Prior Lake, Minn.) finished with two hits and one RBI. Jessica Goerger (Mankato, Minn.) recorded a team-high ten putouts for St. Cloud State
Senna Francesconi (Schomberg, Ontario) pitched three innings for the Huskies. Francesconi struck out two batters and gave up four hits.
Megan Hedstrom (Palatine, Ill.) pitched the final four innings for St. Cloud State. Hedstrom struck out four batters, walked one, and gave up four hits. With the win, Hedstrom improves to 4-1 overall.
Nebraska-Kearney was on the board first as Erin Dwyer doubled to left center allowing Kate Ruwe to score. In the second, St. Cloud State scored two off a throwing error. Erin Dwyer doubled in the third, recording two RBIs. The Huskies tallied three runs in the bottom of the fifth off a throwing error and on a passed ball. Libby Bingham and Abby Bunnell singled in the sixth, recording two RBIs for SCSU. The Lopers scored one run in the seventh to finish the game.
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on the University of Central Missouri at 2:30 p.m. in the Husky Dome.
