St. Cloud State baseball on the road to Bemidji State

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (30-4, 15-4 NSIC) will travel to Bemidji, Minn. for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against NSIC rival Bemidji State University (11-31, 8-18 NSIC) on Wednesday, April 27. Â The games will be played at BSU's baseball located on the Bemidji State campus (19th Street and Bemidji Avenue in Bemidji, Minn.).

The Huskies currently own a 30-4 overall record and a 15-4 record in the NSIC. Â
SCSU recevied the number one ranking once again in this week's NCBWA DII Central Region poll.
In this week's NCAA Division II national poll released by Collegiate Baseball, the Huskies were ranked #8.
In last week's NCBWA DII national poll, SCSU was ranked #2. Â In last week's Perfect Game DII poll, SCSU was ranked #6. Â In the D2 Baseball News poll released last week, SCSU was ranked #4 nationally.
The Huskies enjoyed a bye week on April 23-24 and will now return to play with a NSIC twin bill at Bemidji State on April 27.
Senior Reese Gregory was the Daktronics DII Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and this year he is making a major impact at the plate with team leading .453 batting average and a stellar .953 slugging rate. Â He paces the Huskies with 13 homers this season.

Senior Karl Sorensen leads SCSU with 48 RBIs and 56 hits.
SCSU leads all DII teams this spring with a .384 batting average, 1.91 home runs per game, 3.09 doubles per game, 10.7 runs per game and a .657 slugging percentage.
The Huskies have outscored their opponents 365-143 in  2016.
SCSU will host the 2016 NSIC postseason tournament on May 11-14 at Dick Putz and Joe Faber Fields in St. Cloud, Minn.
Hoffman led the Huskies with a .667 batting in a doubeheader sweep at U-Mary on April 20.  He had 4 hits, 3 runs and five RBIs in the two games.  Hoffman carded a 1.833 slugging percentage and a .778 on base percentage, while charting  a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the two games in Bismarck.  In SCSU's 6-2 win in game one at U-Mary, Hoffmann had 4 RBIs, two hits, two runs and two home runs.  In SCSU's 12-2 win in game two, Hoffmann had two hits, a double, one RBI, one run and got on twice with a hit by pitch.  On the season, Hoffmann is batting .402 with 51 hits, 36 runs, 14 doubles, 7 homers and 40 RBIs.
The Huskies already have a new team record for homers in a season with 65 this spring. Â The old record of 62 homers was set in 2015.
SCSU is batting .384 as a team this season. Â The current team record for best team batting average in a season is .351, which the Huskies set in 2015.
SCSU owns a .657 slugging percentage this season, which is on pace to break the existing team record for best team slugging percentage in a season at .540 in 2010.
Farm Report: Â Former Husky Jordan Smith is currently playing pro ball for Class AAA Columbus in the Cleveland organization. Â Smith plays as an outfielder for the Clippers. Â In the Florida State League (Class A), former Husky pitcher Kyle Fischer recently gained his first win for the Jupiter Hammerheads (Miami Marlins organization). Â Former SCSU pitcher Garrett Harrison is currently playing for the Great Lakes Loons in the Class A Midwest League. Â The Loons are part of the LA Dodgers organization.
The Huskies will return home on April 30 and May 1 for a pair of doubleheaders against NSIC rival Northern State. Â The games on April 30 will start at 1:30 p.m. and the games on May 1 will begin at Noon. Â The games on April 30 have been designated as Parents' Day and the games on May 1 will include a salute to the 2016 SCSU seniors. Â
The SCSU doubleheader on April 30 has also been tabbed as Fan Appreciation Day at Joe Faber Field. Â The first 40 SCSU students to enter the ballpark will receive a free Noodles & Company bowl coupon. Â The game will also feature baseball bingo and raffle drawings for prizes (Dominos coupons, Huskies apparel, gift cards and an autographed jersey).
Tickets for the games at Joe Faber Field can be purchased at the gate. Â All SCSU students with a valid ID card will be admitted FREE to these home games on April 30 and May 1.
