The Huskies were unleashed at the plate on Wednesday, where they totaled seven home runs in the second game alone.
Sioux Falls, SD - St. Cloud State's baseball team (13-6, 6-1 NSIC) extended their winning streak to five, recorded their second straight series sweep and totaled their third consecutive series win on Wednesday, March 28th in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Huskies defeated the Northern State Wolves (7-10, 2-6 NSIC). Entering Wednesday's action, SCSU was 1-1 against the Wolves in 2018.Â
GAME ONE SUMMARY (SCSUÂ 7 | NSU 1)
St. Cloud State jumped out to an early four run lead after Bo Schmitz barreled up a grand slam over the left field wall. This would be just the start of Schmitz' day at the plate. In the fourth inning, Schmitz would single home Ethan Ibarra to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead. The Wolves would then push across their only run of the game off of a Jack Schmidt double down the left field line. Mitch Mallek singled in Meyer in the fifth and Mat Meyer doubled to score Bo Schmitz in the sixth. St. Cloud State would go on to win 7-1 with Bo Schmitz leading the way with three hits, 5 RBI's and two runs scored.
The pitcher of record for SCSU was Kyle Boser, who went 4.2 innings strong and improved his record to 3-2 on the season. Boser would only allow one run on eight hits while striking out seven.
Zach Siggelkow would relieve Boser to pick up his first save of the season. Siggelkow struck out three batters and did not surrender a run in his 2.1 inning appearance.Â
GAME TWO SUMMARY (SCSUÂ 20 | NSU 8)
The Huskies' bats were alive and well in the mid-week series finale against Northern State. Bo Schmitz picked up where he left off in the first game with a three-run home run in the second inning. Jordan Joseph would follow up Schmitz' home run with a solo shot to left field.Â
Reid Conlee would record his first collegiate home run in the fifth, when he sent a three-run shot to left field. Aaron Hammann would record his first collegiate home run in the at-bat following Conlee's. Then, Ethan Ibarra would make it three consecutive home runs to give the Huskies an 8-1 lead.
