
Huskies and Beavers Split in Bemidji on Saturday

SCSU out-hit the Beavers, 19-2 in their 13-1 victory in game one.
BEMIDJI, Minn. – After out-hitting the Beavers, 19-2 and winning by a twelve run margin in game one, the St. Cloud State baseball team (26-13, 19-8 NSIC) split with the Bemidji State Beavers in game two after falling by a score of 7-3.
Bo Schmitz was 7-8 on the day at the plate with three RBI's while sophomore shortstop, Jordan Joseph had four RBI's on three hits as well. Mathew Meyer had two RBI's on two hits while Mitch Mallek tallied four hits also.
On the mound, Kyle Boser was lights out in game one. The junior struck out four in five strong innings and only allowed one earned run on one hit. In game two, Matthew Osterberg struck out a career-high, 10 K's in his 5.2 innings of work. The freshman allowed four earned runs on eight hits and walked three.
GAME ONE SUMMARY (SCSU 13 | BSU 1)
The Huskies were able to score in each inning except the fifth and seventh innings in their 13-1 victory over BSU. Mathew Meyer started the action by sending a two-run single into left field in the first inning that put the Huskies up 2-0.
Ethan Ibarra, Bo Schmitz and Jordan Joseph all recorded RBI's in the second inning, the Huskies would take a 6-0 lead leading into the third inning.
In the third, Schmitz recorded his second RBI of the day and SCSU went up 8-0.
SCSU would push across five runs between the fourth and sixth innings and take a 13-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the sixth, Bemidji would score their lone run on a sacrifice fly.
The Huskies out-hit the Beavers, 19-2 and committed one error in the game.

Sandgren made his first appearance of the season after battling through an injury for the majority of the season, thus far.

GAME TWO SUMMARY (SCSU 3 | BSU 7)
After falling behind by one in the second inning, SCSU was able to rally back and take a 2-1 lead in the top half of the fifth. The Huskies' two runs in the fifth came off of a 2 RBI single from Jordan Joseph. St. Cloud State was only able to push across one more run in the eighth off of a sac-fly from Isaac Matchinsky.
Bemidji scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings and ultimately controlled the momentum for the duration of the game.
SCSU had their chances to cut their deficit and potentially take a lead by loading the bases in the eighth and ninth innings. The Huskies stranded a total of 11 baserunners in the game two loss.
