SCSU softball's Megan Conrads experiences life as a firefighter during summer break

A first baseman for the Huskies, Conrads is interested in pursing a career as a firefighter and she filled out a job shadowing request with the city of Richfield to work with that city's fire department. The experience over the past summer included several ride-alongs with the Richfield Fire Department that included medical calls and car accidents. She was able to work with the members of the fire department and prepare for the calls as if she was a part of the department.
"The opportunity to do this over the summer has made me super excited for the future," Conrads said. "I want to pursue a career as a firefighter and this was a great experience for me."
Conrads is a criminal justice major at SCSU and will additional schooling in basic firefighting training once she completes her undergrad program at St. Cloud State. Conrads will begin her sophomore season with the SCSU softball team in 2019. As a rookie for the Huskies in 2018, Conrads was a starter at first base and batted .270. Her numbers for her freshman season included 24 runs, 33 hits, 21 RBIs and two home runs.
"I have a cousin who is a volunteer firefighter and I have always been interested in pursing a career as a firefighter," Conrads said.
