
St. Cloud State Softball Sweeps Final Regular Season Doubleheader, Surpass 40-Win Mark for Eighth Time in Program History

Huskies post third straight doubleheader sweep, earn No. 4 seed in NSIC Tournament
BISMARCK, N.D. – St. Cloud State Softball (41-14, 20-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept its final regular season doubleheader against UMary (9-44, 2-26 NSIC) at the UMary Softball Field in Bismarck on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies won the first game 5-0 and the second game 4-2 to earn its third consecutive doubleheader sweep.
With a win in the first game, the Huskies reached the 40-win mark for the eighth time in program history and the first time since 2017.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 5, UMARY 0
SCSU got on the board first after senior catcher/outfielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.) hit a 2-RBI single om the top of the second inning, to take a 2-0 lead. Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) pushed the Huskies lead to three in the fifth inning with a solo home run. In the sixth inning, redshirt sophomore infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.) extended the SCSU lead to four with a sacrifice fly and junior infielder Sydney Roe (Davenport, Iowa) provided the final run of the game in the seventh inning with a solo shot over the wall in right center.
Junior right handed pitcher Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) was incredible for her second straight start. She struck out 16 batters and did not allow an earned run over her two complete game starts this weekend.

- Clark won her team-leading 18th game of the season, logged her team-leading 13th complete game and retied the team lead for shutouts this season, with four. She surpassed 155.0 innings and 130 strikeouts on the season and lowered her season ERA to 2.18.
- Holzhueter posted her team leading 10th 3+ hit game of the season and team leading 23rd multi-hit game. She hit her 14th double of the season, retying the team lead. She also stole her team-leading 18th base of the season.
- Roe tallied her 10th multi-hit game of the season. She also recorded her ninth multi-RBI game of the season, which is tied for fourth most on the team. She hit her fifth home run of the season which is tied for second most on the team.
- Dahmen scored her 25th run of the season.
- Holmes extended her hitting/on-base streak to 10 games. She hit her team-leading 11th home run of the season.
- Senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) extended her on-base streak to a season-best 17 games, tying the longest streak of any Husky this season.
- Sophomore catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to 14 games, but had her season best 13-game hitting streak end at 13 games.
GAME TWO: ST. CLOUD STATE 4, UMARY 2
SCSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half inning of play after Holmes hit a 2-RBI single to right center. UMary evened the game at two in the bottom of the third with a 2-RBI double. Holmes gave the Huskies their lead back after hitting a two-run home run over the center field wall.

- Porter recorded her 11th save of the season and lowered her season ERA to 1.49. She also surpassed 65.0 innings on the season and reached 45 strikeouts.
- Holzhueter took sole possession of the team lead in doubles after hitting her 15th of the season.
- Frechette hit her 11th double of the season which ranks tied for fourth on the team.
- Roe extended her hitting/on-base streak to five games and hit her seventh double of the season.
- Fitzgerald extended her on-base streak to 18 games which is the longest of any Husky this season and the longest streak since Raven Vanden Langenberg's 27 games in 2023.
- Weiss extended her on-base streak to 15 games.

SCSU earned the No. 4 seed in the NSIC Tournament and begins postseason play on Thursday, May 1 against No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth (38-16, 18-8) in an NSIC Tournament Quarterfinal tilt.
