
St. Cloud State Softball Season Finishes in NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals

No. 4 seed Huskies fall to No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth, 10-2
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 4 seed St. Cloud State Softball (41-15, 20-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) fell to No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth (39-16, 18-8), 10-2, in the NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls to end its season.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first half inning of play after a 2-RBI single, a bases loaded walk and a grand slam. SCSU settled down and allowed just one hit over the next five innings, recording four consecutive three up, three down innings from the third to the sixth.
UMD hit a three-run home run to extend its lead to 10 in the top of the seventh inning before the Huskies plated their first runs in the last half inning with a two-run home run from redshirt sophomore infielder Grace Frechette (Forest Lake, Minn.). The Huskies struggled to bring runs in throughout the game, leaving a total of 10 baserunners on throughout the game.

NOTABLES
- The Huskies moved to 45-70 all-time against Minnesota Duluth, 2-2 against the Bulldogs this season and 1-2 against UMD in NSIC Tournament games.
- SCSU moved to 14-18 all-time in the NSIC Tournament and saw its season end in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.
- The Huskies hit a home run for the fourth straight game.
- SCSU allowed 10+ runs for just the third time this season and first time since February 16 and allowed 2+ home runs for the third time and first since April 13. UMD was responsible for two of those three after scoring 10 runs and hitting two home runs in both the first and last game of the season.
- Holmes posted her 22nd multi-hit game of the season which finished second on the Huskies. She extended her hitting/on-base streaks to 12 games and will carry them into next season.
- Frechette recorded her 11th multi-RBI game of the season, which finished second most on the team. The home run was her third of the season.
- Stangle hit her fourth double of the season.
- Eickhoff surpassed 125.0 innings on the season.
- Senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) ended her Husky career with a 19 game on-base streak, which is the longest of any Husky this season and the longest streak since Raven Vanden Langenberg's 27 games in 2023.
- Sophomore catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) extended her on-base streak to 16 games and will carry it into next season.
