Clark throws one-hitter in game one, Huskies outhit Minot State 16-6 in twinbill
MINOT, N.D. – St. Cloud State Softball (39-14, 18-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept its penultimate regular season doubleheader against Minot State (27-22, 15-11 NSIC) at the MSU Bubble in Minot on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies won the first game 4-1 and the second game 3-1.
GAME ONE: ST. CLOUD STATE 4, MINOT STATE 1
The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead after sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) hit an RBI-double in the top of the first inning and doubled their lead in the third inning when Holmes hit an RBI-single. SCSU extended its lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a sacrifice fly from sophomore outfielder Kori Needham (Milan, Ill.) and pushed it to 4-0 in the sixth after a Needham RBI-single.
Junior right handed pitcher Macey Clark (Winneconne, Wis.) had a perfect game going through the first six innings, but had it broken up by single during the first at bat of the seventh inning.

SCSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half inning of play after Holmes hit a two-run shot over the left field wall. Minot State cut its lead in half in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI-single, but the Huskies extended its lead back to two with an RBI-single from Weiss.

- Holmes posted her ninth 3+ hit game of the season which is tied for the most on the team and recorded her 19th multi-hit game of the season which is tied for the second most on the team. Holmes posted her team-leading 13th multi-RBI game of the season and extended her hitting streak/on-base to eight games. She is tied for the second most doubles on the team this season, with 13.
- Needham recorded her first multi-RBI game of the season.
- Beck hit her eighth double of the season.
- Senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) extended her on-base streak to 15 games.
- Sophomore catcher/infielder Bethany Weiss (Forest Lake, Minn.) extended her hitting/on-base streak to 12 games.
- Senior catcher/outfielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.) had her career-best 17 game hitting/on-base streak snapped.
