ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Softball (37-14, 16-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) wraps up its regular season schedule on the road in North Dakota this weekend. The Huskies play Minot State (27-20, 15-9 NSIC) on Saturday at the MSU Bubble in Minot and UMary (9-40, 2-22 NSIC) on Sunday at the UMary Softball Field in Bismarck. Both doubleheaders are set for noon and 2 p.m.

Junior right-handed pitcher Justyce Porter (Kent, Wash.) ranks second in saves among all pitchers in Division II (and the NSIC) with nine. She leads the team in ERA (1.59), appearances (26 – tie) and saves. She also ranks third in WHIP (1.30).

RECORD BOOK WATCH
Senior catcher/outfielder Reese Holzhueter (Shakopee, Minn.) is six hits shy of becoming the school record holder for hits in a season and three singles shy of becoming the school record holder for singles in a season.

The team is three wins shy of 40 on the season. It would be the first time since 2019 a team has won 40 games and the eighth time in program history.
After drawing a walk in the 10-3 victory over Concordia-St. Paul on April 6, senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) broke her tie with Morgan Emmans (2016-19) to become the program lead in career walks, with 91. On April 19, in game two against Northern State, she became the first player in program history to earn 100+ career walks.
FIRST OUTDOOR GAMES AT HUSKY STADIUM

FIRST RANKED WIN SINCE 2023
The Huskies beat No. 10 Augustana, 5-2 on Friday, marking the program's first win against a ranked opponent since March 5, 2023, when SCSU beat No. 8 Grand Valley State 1-0 in Florida. The win also snapped a three-game losing streak against ranked opponents and was the Vikings first conference loss of the season.
NFCA DII PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCHLIST
Sophomore infielder Brooke Holmes (Savage, Minn.) was named the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player of the Year watchlist, as announced by the organization on March 27.
In total, 116 student-athletes from across the country were revealed as part of the 2025 NFCA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist. Holmes is one of four position players from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) to be named to the list along with one pitcher. In all, the group consists of 88 programs from 21 different conferences.
The Player of the Year award was created in 2015 to honor the outstanding athletic achievements among softball student-athletes throughout NCAA Division II. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include a Player and Pitcher of the Year.

NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

St. Cloud State was selected to finish seventh in the 2025 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on January 23. Additionally, senior infielder Maggie Fitzgerald (Oak Lawn, Ill.) was named the Player to Watch, and junior right-handed pitcher Justyce Porter (Kent, Wash.) was named the Pitcher to Watch.
Head Coach Mitch Roberts enters his fourth season at the helm of the Huskies Softball in 2025. He has record of 100-64 (.610) and led last year's team to a 30-26 overall record, including 12-16 record in NSIC play, to finish eighth in the standings. The Huskies took down ninth-seeded Sioux Falls in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament, 6-2, before falling to the hosts and eventual champions, Augustana, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
