ST. CLOUD, MINN. – St. Cloud State University men's basketball senior Gage Davis (Bolingbrook, Ill. / Bolingbrook) can add another scoring record to his already impressive resume. After becoming both the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and St. Cloud State's leading scorers earlier this season, Davis became the state of Minnesota's all-time leading college basketball scorer amongst Division I, II and III programs this past weekend.
Thanks to his 46 and 31 points performances against Wayne State and Augustana, Davis surpassed Saint John's University's Frank Wachlarowicz with 2391 points in his career as a Husky. Wachlarowicz held the state's all-time scoring record for 40 years, as he scored 2357 points in his career as a Johnnie from 1975-1979.
This is the third scoring record Davis broke this season, as he became both the NSIC and St. Cloud State's all-time leading scorer in early January. In 81 games against NSIC opponents, the senior guard has racked up an impressive 1828 points with four games remaining on the Huskies schedule. Additionally, Davis is one of five Division II student-athletes from the state of Minnesota to score at least 2000 points throughout their careers, as he joins Minnesota State's Luke Anderson (2328), Winona State's John Smith (2265), MSU-Moorhead's Ralph Western (2015) and Bemidji State's David Lee (2034).
Davis and St. Cloud State will return to action on Friday, February 15 when the team travels to take on Minnesota State-Moorhead at 7:30 p.m.
