#4 St. Cloud State to Host Wayne State for Midweek Series

SCSU looks to bounce back after suffering consecutive losses for the first time this season.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Continuing on their first homestand of the season, the #4 St. Cloud State baseball team (21-5, 9-3 NSIC) hosts Wayne State College (Neb.) (19-7, 10-3 NSIC) on April 3 at Dick Putz Field. SCSU and Wayne State will play a double-header with the first game slotted to start at 1:00 PM CT.Â

The Huskies are coming off of a 2-2 week that included two wins over Upper Iowa, then two losses against Augustana University. SCSUÂ received a #4 national rank with two first place votes from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) and a #1 rank with 11 first place votes in the Central Region poll. SCSU also earned a #6 national rank from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Wayne State also entered the NCBWA central region ranks at #10 with 11 points.Â

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats are enjoying a ten game winning streak entering Wednesday's NSIC twinbill, including a trio of series sweeps against Minnesota Duluth, U-Mary and Northern State. WSC's three NSIC losses came against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles in their first conference series of the season. WSC currently sits third in the NSIC standings after sweeping U-Mary and Northern State last week. As a team, WSC ranks sixth in the NSIC for batting average (.291) and fifth for ERA (4.15). The Wildcats pace the conference in homeruns with 26 along while only trailing Augustana with 61 doubles.

SCSU leads the all-time series 26-7 in games dating back to 1960. The Huskies swept WSC last season, with Shannon Ahern and Aaron Hammann each notching victories on the hill. Earning road victories of 3-2 and 12-4 in Wayne, Neb. in 2018, this season marks the first time since 2015 the teams have met in St. Cloud. Of note, Sheldon Miks fired an 84 pitch complete game against the Wildcats in their last road trip to St. Cloud.
