#4 St. Cloud State Sweeps Minot State, Dom Austing Becomes All-Time Leader in Strikeouts

Dominic Austing and Mitch Mallek etched their names in the SCSU history books on Wednesday afternoon as well. Austing, a St. Cloud Cathedral graduate became the St. Cloud State's all-time leader in career strikeouts with 275 after his seven strikeout day that improves him to 6-0 on the season. Mallek, a native of Plover, Wis. became the 11th Husky to join the 200 hit club following a RBI double in game two.

Mat Meyer's two-run shot in the first inning of the ballgame would be all the Huskies needed in their 2-1 victory over the Beavers.
Despite each team recording five hits in game one, the Huskies were held scoreless for the duration of the ballgame while Minot State collected their only run of the series courtesy of a solo homer in the seventh inning. MSU threatened throughout the ballgame, stranding seven runners compared to SCSU's five, but a seventh inning rally consisting of one run on two hits was held off by Blake Flint's relief efforts. Dominic Austing improved to 6-0 after posting six scoreless innings, striking out seven and only allowing three hits.

Using another first run long ball to their advantage, the Huskies earned an early 1-0 lead after Mitch Mallek recorded his tenth homer of the season.
Mallek would then put the Huskies on the board again in the sixth with a RBI double that scored Jordan Joseph. Of note, Mallek's ninth double of the year was also his 200th career hit. Caeden Harris contributed to the cause with a RBI single in the sixth to give SCSU a 3-0 lead. Jordan Joseph's sole hit of the game was a RBI single to score Toran Shahidi, then Ethan Ibarra stole home to give SCSU their fifth and final run of the afternoon.Get that man the chain‼️

Matthew Osterberg improved to 4-1 following 6 1/3 scorelss frames while also picking up eight strikeouts. Despite a seventh inning rain delay, Shannon Ahern managed to contribute 1 2/3 scoreless frames and three strikeouts while Matt Butler capped off the game with a clean ninth inning.
