St. Cloud State University freshman Carter Doose, a graduate of St. Peter (Minn.) H.S., has been selected as a Men's Golfer to watch by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for 2019-20.
Winona State was picked to win the NSIC in the preseason men's golf coaches' poll, while the Huskies were selected eighth in the NSIC preseason poll for 2019-20.
The three-round NSIC Men's Golf Championship will take place this spring on April 17-19, 2020 at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Kansas City, Missouri. SCSU is slated to open its season on Sept. 6-7 with a trip to the J.R. Watkins Invitational at The Jewell G.C. in Lake City, Minn.
St. Cloud State will be led by third year head coach Sloan Wallgren in 2019-20. The Huskies look to replace departed top seniors Riley Duncanson and Troy Ryynanen this fall but a solid group of returning players and talented newcomers should drive SCSU in 2019-20.
Returning players Quinn Massey and Mitch Rice will add veteran depth to the roster, while top ranked newcomer Carter Doose brings an impressive golf resume to the Granite City this season. Doose placed third at the MSHSL Class AA championships last year for St. Peter H.S. and he also placed first on the MGA Players Tour during the summer of 2019 with a total of 1,027.5 points. Other newcomers to watch include Aiden Brovold, Spencer Hinirchs, Hunter Moen and Ryan Neff.
