St. Cloud State baseball scores a 3-2 victory over NWMSU

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (2-0, 0-0 NSIC) added its second win of the 2020 season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Northwest Missouri State University at the MIAA/GLVCÂ Crossover Tournament on Feb. 15 in Joplin, Mo.
The Huskies relied upon a ninth inning single by John Nett to score two runs, which clinched the win for the Huskies. Nett's single scored Drew Bulson and Matt Quade, which helped continue with an undefeated record in the tournament hosted by Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo.
NWMSU opened the game's scoring in the third inning with one run, before the Huskies knotted the game up in the bottom of the third with an RBI single by Josh Hill, which scored Josh Sandoval. In the eighth inning, NWMSU added its second run to give it a 2-1 lead before Nett's bottom of the ninth heroics won the game for SCSU.
On the mound, George Loxtercamp won the game in relief for SCSU with one inning of work. Blake Flint started the game with six innings of work, which included six strikeouts and only four hits and one run allowed. Jacob Bradley also added 2.0 innings of key relief work to set the stage for Loxtercamp's win.
In the game, SCSU had seven hits and NWMSU had eight hits. Quade had three hits and one run to lead SCSU, while Nett and Hill each had two hits in the game.
SCSU will continue its season on Feb. 16 with a game in the MIAA/GLVC tournament against host Missouri Southern.
