Huskies fall for first time in 2020

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (2-1, 0-0 NSIC) lost its firs game of the season with a 13-1 setback against Missouri Southern State University in action at the MIAA/GLVCÂ tournament on Sunday, Feb. 16 in Joplin, Mo.
The Huskies scored one run in the first inning with an RBI grounder by Josh Hill that scored John Nett. The run proved to be the limit of the Huskies' offense as MSSU scored three runs in the bottom of the first and then added five runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth and three runs in the sixth inning to seal the victory.
In the game, MSSU outhit the Huskies 15-3, with hits for SCSU being posted by Mauro Owens, Kyle Rodriguez and Nett. Trevor Koenig was the pitcher of record for SCSU with three strikeouts and eight runs allowed in two innings pitched. Eli Emerson, Avery Stevens, Jack Habeck and Tommy Thompson also pitched in the game for SCSU.
The Huskies will finish the tournament in Joplin on Feb. 17 with a game against Missouri Western in Joplin, Mo.
