
Huskies sweep Crookston with 78-59 win

CROOKSTON, MINN. - The St. Cloud State University men's basketball team is back on track. After hanging on for a close win against the University of Minnesota-Crookston on Friday, the Huskies won in resounding fashion on Saturday, taking down the Golden Eagles by a final score of 78-59.
Despite the final score, the game was tightly contested in the opening 20 minutes, as Minnesota-Crookston held a 38-33 lead over St. Cloud State after the first half. The second half, though, belonged to the Huskies, as they exploded for 45 points in 20 minutes while holding the Golden Eagles to just 21 points and a .273 second half shooting percentage. Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) was particularly hot for St. Cloud State as he scored a team-leading 25 points on 11-16 shooting from the floor, including a 2-2 mark from three-point range, to secure the 78-59 victory for the Huskies.
In addition to Donaldson, several other St. Cloud State student-athletes put together strong performances on Saturday. Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) ended his outstanding weekend with 16 points on 7-11 shooting with five rebounds, while Josh Tomasi (Melbourne, Australia / Western Colorado) also scored 16 and pulled in a team-leading seven rebounds. Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) added 11 points and a team-leading four assists in the victory.
With the win, the Huskies overall record improves to 7-7 and they are 5-5 in NSIC North Division play. St. Cloud State will close the regular season the weekend on February 19 when the team hosts conference rival Minnesota-Duluth in a two game series. Tip off of game one is scheduled for 6 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minnesota on Friday, February 19.
