
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Earns 2-1 Win over Winona State

Shea and Valdez score for the Huskies to earn first-ever win in Winona
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (1-3-1, 1-1-1 NSIC) earned its first conference win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Winona State (2-3-0, 1-2-0) on Friday evening in Winona. The win was the Huskies' first-ever road win in Winona.
St. Cloud State found the back of the net twice in the game, as senior Claire Shea (Excelsior, Minn.) scored in the 69th minute of the game, while senior Karlie Valdez (West Haven, Utah) gave the Huskies the lead in the 83rd minute.
TURNING POINT
After an earlier Warrior goal, the Huskies were able to score an equalizer from Shea with just over 20 minutes remaining in the game. The goal allowed the Huskies to grab momentum of the contest, as Valdez later added a score with less than seven minutes remaining in the game to give St. Cloud State the victory.
