Huskies fall to Purdue Northwest, 3-0
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (2-6-2 overall, 2-3-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Purdue Northwest, 3-0 in a GLIAC matchup on Friday night in St. Cloud. The Pride (7-1-3 overall, 4-1-1 GLIAC) scored an early goal which forced SCSU to chase the game - just as SCSU did to the Pride in the teams' matchup earlier this season. PNW would add two more goals, one in the first half and one in the second half to bring the game to its final score.
TOP HUSKIES
"Two weeks ago, we went to their place and scored an early goal and carried the day and they turned around and did the same thing to us...I felt like after that [their first goal] we were chasing the game the whole night and they did well. Their second one [goal] was a little bit of confusion and then we were really, really chasing it. I was happy with parts of the game – but in the end converting chances is what wins you games."
"We're their only loss of the season – that's a good team and I don't know we came with the full energy tonight – there were moments of it, but in several tight little deciding moments we weren't as tough as we needed to be, we weren't as smart as we needed to be."
"Vukota [Mastilovic], as always, was good actually Vuke and Juan [Villegas] played very well."
"We created opportunities to make chances, but we didn't create chances – there's a difference in that and I think that's still part of our growth curve...there were lots of moments of quality but in key moments, just not quite enough."
Looking ahead to Sunday... "We'll turn around and be ready...this is the challenge of the GLIAC – of conference play everywhere – you have to turn around quickly, it's a tough thing...UW-Parkside is good – but as I thought before the season, the difference between one and six in our conference is so minimal, really small margins, so we have to come back and bring the energy."
