St. Cloud State Baseball Hosts No. 19 Augustana at Joe Faber Field

Four-game set to be played at Joe Faber Field
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball (8-6, 4-0 NSIC) welcomes No. 23 Augustana (10-2, 4-0 NSIC) to the Granite City for a four-game set between the only two teams undefeated in conference play this season. The four-game series is scheduled for Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, marking the earliest home series for the Huskies in recent history. The two teams are scheduled to play doubleheaders each day of the series.

JAMES NAMED NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
St. Cloud State Baseball graduate Cal James (Buffalo, Minn.) was named the NSIC Player of the Week after an impressive weekend in SCSU's road trip to Colorado, helping the Huskies win three out of four against UC Colorado Springs and CSU Pueblo while hitting .500 (9-for-18) over the four-game stand with four home runs, 11 RBI and eight runs.
James slashed .500/.545/1.333 with six extra base hits (4 HRs, 2B, 3B) and two or more hits in all four games. The Husky 3B had a home run in each of the first two games against UC Colorado Springs and recorded six RBI over the series. In SCSU's 11-9 win over CSU Pueblo, James hit two home runs, had five RBI, three hits and three runs scored, all season-highs. James' two blasts mark his fifth career multi-home run game after hitting two home runs four times with UMary, most recently against St. Cloud State on April 23, 2023. His five RBI are the second-most in his career, trailing only his six RBI performance from May 1, 2021.
On the season, James has slashed .396/.522/.792 with five home runs, 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and four doubles. He has hit safely in 12 of 14 games this season with multiple hits in eight contests and currently has a six-game hit-streak. James leads the NSIC in home runs (five), RBI (20) and runs scored (20).
TUPY NAMED NSIC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
St. Cloud State Baseball redshirt junior Luke Tupy (New Prague, Minn.) was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week after Tupy led the Huskies to a 6-2 win in a series-opener of a four-game sweep over Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 18.
Tupy pitched six innings while allowing only two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine Mustangs. The Husky junior's nine punch outs of SMSU are the second-most of any NSIC pitcher this season, trailing only teammate Payton VanBeck's 10 on Feb. 4. Tupy earned his first win of the season and 12th of his career while reaching nine strike outs for the seventh time in his career.

- James hit his second home run of the season and drove in his 10th and 11th RBIs of the season. His two-hit day raised his average to .359 with a slugging percentage of .615 and on-base percentage of .500.

- Tupy flirted with his third career no-hitter, going six innings before allowing his first hit. His 12 strike outs is the third-best performance of his career and the most since he struck out 13 against Minnesota Crookston on April 29, 2022.
- Tupy's 12 punchouts are the second-most by an NSIC pitcher this season, trailing only Minnesota Duluth's Kolby Kiser's 13 also recorded today.
- On the season, Tupy is now 2-0 with a 3.43 ERA with an NSIC-leading 31 strike outs.
