St. Cloud State Track & Field Records 10 Top-Five Finishes in First Meet of 2025

Four Huskies post new personal best marks Friday at the Tommie Indoor Invitational in St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field opened 2025 at Tommie Indoor Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC) in St. Paul on Friday. Four new personal bests were set while SCSU posted 10 top-five finishes and six top-three finishes.
Fifth year sprinter Katie Lavato (Buffalo, Minn.) ran the third fastest time in the finals of the 60 meters after running the third fastest time in the prelims as well. Her prelims time was just 0.03 seconds off her personal best time that she ran in the final meet of 2024.
Sophomore sprinter Viola Okey-Ezealah (Part-Harcourt, Nigeria) ran to a new personal best time in the prelims of the 60 meters. She ran 8.21, cutting 0.02 seconds off her previous best time which she ran at this meet a year ago. Okey-Ezealah also finished third in the 200 meters (27.84).
Sophomore distance runner Alena Donahue (West Salem, Wis.) ran a new personal best in the mile (5:31.14), finishing sixth. Her time was nine seconds faster than her previous best which was from the season opener on Dec. 7.
Senior jumper/middle distance runner Makaylin Christenson (Prairie Farm, Wis.) set a new personal best in the high jump after clearing 1.59m/5-2.5. Her previous best was 1.57m/5-1.75 from February 16, 2024. Christenson also finished second in the 600 meters in 1:49.56.
Freshman thrower Mackenzie McMahon (Baraboo, Wis.) surpassed her previous personal best in the weight throw by over a foot (11.44m/37-6.5) and finished fifth.
Freshman jumper/sprinter Kinsey Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) and freshman sprinter Jayla Patterson (Romeoville, Ill.) made their collegiate track debuts. Mohwinkle placed third in the 60 hurdles (9.97) and fifth in the long jump (5.02m/16-5.75). Patterson was fourth in the 60 hurdles (10.63).
Sophomore sprinter/hurdler Trinity Wallendal (Fon du Lac, Wis.) ran 11.43 in the 60 hurdles to finish fifth.
Lavato, Christenson, freshman distance runner Abbygail Nunez (South St. Paul, Minn.) and Okey-Ezealah finished third in the 4x400 relay in 4:24.63.
