Huskies give up six runs in seventh inning to fall 10-5

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – St. Cloud State Baseball (5-8, 2-2 NSIC) dropped the second game of a three-game series with Truman State (3-11, 0-0 GLVC), 10-5, on Sunday afternoon in Kirksville. The Huskies had a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning before giving up six runs.

With Truman leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, SCSU took a 4-1 lead with a four-run inning that started with a two-RBI single from redshirt sophomore Hayden Konkol (Denmark, Wis.). Truman State tied the game with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth before redshirt junior Brayden Jacobson (West Fargo, N.D.) launched his first home run of the season in the sixth inning to retake the lead at 5-4.

The lead didn't last for long, however, as the Bulldogs scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take control of the game and earn the 10-5 victory.

NOTES

Konkol matched a career-best with his second two-RBI game of the season and had his second stolen base.
Moreno had his fifth multi-hit game of the season with two hits and an RBI.
Guthire had his fourth multi-hit game of the season with two hits and a run.
Senior Ethan Navratil (Albany, Minn.) extended his hit streak to 12 games as he has now hit safely in every game but the first game of the season and is hitting a career-best .340 through 13 games.
Redshirt junior Cael Kolacia (Fort Dodge, Iowa) had a season-high seven strikeouts over 6.2 innings.
Sophomore Will Hess (Hartland, Wis.) pitched a scoreless inning, his second outing of scoreless relief in three appearances this season.
