Navratil leads the way with HR and five RBI, Huskies score 10+ for ninth time this season
SCSU scored first with an RBI single from Navratil in the top of the first inning, but the Maurauders scored a run in the first and second to take its first and only lead of the game at 2-1. SCSU took the lead for good in the third inning when the Huskies scored three runs, including two on Tweet's second home run of the season. SCSU then extended its lead to 6-2 when Tweet and Navratil drew back-to-back walks with the bases loaded in the fourth.
After UMary cut the lead to 6-4, Bello and Pribula homered in back-to-back innings in the fifth and sixth, respectively, to push the lead back to five at 9-4. UMary rallied to get within one run at 10-9 in the seventh, but SCSU responded again with a three-run eighth inning to put the game out of reach with an RBI double from redshirt junior Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and a three-run home run from Navratil.
On the mound, SCSU starter redshirt junior Cael Kolacia (Fort Dodge, Iowa) gave up eight runs but lasted 6.2 innings and struck out eight. Redshirt senior Frankie Volkers (Maple Grove, Minn.) came on in the ninth with a runner on worked out of a bases loaded jam to earn his seventh save of the season.
