Huskies drop final game of regular season, will be five-seed in NSIC Tournament

BEMIDJI, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball (26-24, 22-18 NSIC) dropped its regular season finale to Bemidji State (7-40, 6-34), 9-7, on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn.

SCSU held a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in first and fourth innings, but Bemidji State responded with nine consecutive runs, scoring two in the fourth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh inning. SCSU attempted to comeback, scoring five in the eighth inning on a home run from junior Taehyung Kim (Marana, Ariz.), a double from redshirt junior Eric Bello (Manati, Puerto Rico) and a home run from senior Blaine Guthrie (Emerald, Wis.), but couldn't push two more runs across in the ninth inning to tie the score.

NOTES

SCSU finished the conference season at 22-18 and in fifth place, marking the 15^th consecutive season played the Huskies have finished in the top-five in the NSIC and 16^th time in 17 seasons under head coach Pat Dolan.
SCSU hit three home runs in the game to push its season total to 60, a mark which ranks as the third-most of any Husky team in program history.
Bello had his fourth three-hit game and 11the multi-hit game of the season whit hitting his 13^th and 14^th doubles.
Castro launched his 10^th home run of the season, while Guthrie hit his fourth and Kim hit his third.

UP NEXT

SCSU will be the five-seed in the NSIC Tournament and will play the four-seed on Wednesday, May 7 at 12:00 p.m. at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls, S.D.
