Huskies roll to 55-6 NSIC win over Minnesota Crookston

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University senior runningback Michael Walker (Walworth, Wis.) rushed for four touchdowns and younger brother Kenneth added a fifth to lead the Huskies to a 55-6 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North division win Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium.
St. Cloud State improved to a 5-1 overall record and 1-1 in NSIC North play. Minnesota Crookston fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC North.
Michael Walker scored in runs of three, two, five and 27 yards and finished the game with 10 carries for 54 yards. Kenneth scored on a 14-yard run and had eight carries for 58 yards.
Senior quarterback Phillip Klaphake (Princeton) threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 16 yards. He went over 9,000 career passing yards and in his career has 9,176 passing yards and 2,030 career rushing yards.
Another senior, defensive back Eric Poggenburg (Cedarburg, Wis.) intercepted a pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown. He also led the Huskies with eight tackles. Senior Damon Treat (Fairfield, Calif.) led the Husky receivers with four catches for 87 yards.
Minnesota Crookston was led by runningback Talo Pascal. He rushed for 122 yards including a 75-yard touchdown run. He also caught four passes for 30 yards.
St. Cloud State gained 539 yards of total offense and held the Golden Eagles to 100 yards passing and 223 yards total offense.
St. Cloud State led 28-0 at the half. The Huskies travel to Bismarck, N.D. next Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. kick-off at the University of Mary.
