Moro and Klaphake named NSIC football players of the week

Moro broke the school record for career interceptions with the 20th and 21st picks of his career in the Huskies 64-7 North Division win over Northern State. Moro broke the record at 3:15 of the third quarter with a pick that he returned 31 yards. He added to the record with a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth. It marked his second career interception return for a touchdown and the 72 yards was the second longest TD interception return in school history. He finished the day with a game-high seven tackles and 103 interception return yards. Moro has seven interceptions this season. This is his second player of the week honor of the season.
Klaphake tied the school record for touchdown passes in a single game with five scoring strikes in the Huskies 64-7 win over Northern State. Klaphake tied the record for the second time in his career and connected on scoring strikes of eight, six, one, 22 and 39 yards. He completed four straight passes in the opening drive of the game in which the Huskies scored. Klaphake finished the game 22 of 30 for 293 yards and five TDs with a long pass of 39. Klaphake also drew within 63 yards of tying the SCSU career record for passing yards. He currently has 9,632 career passing yards which trails Keith Heckendorf's mark of 9,695 set from 2000 to 2003. Klaphake has 1,919 passing yards this season and is closing in on his fourth straight 2,000 plus yard passing season.
St. Cloud State travels to Bemidji State on Saturday, Nov. 2 for an NSIC North matchup with the Beavers at 1 p.m. The Huskies are 35-18-3 all-time against the Beavers in one of the school's oldest rivalries dating back to 1927. Bemidji State has won two straight over the Huskies.
