Klaphake breaks career passing record in 45-6 win at Bemidji State

The Huskies, ranked #4 in Super Region 3 and #21/#24 in the national Division II polls improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC North. Bemidji State dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the North Division.
Klaphake needed 64 passing yards to break the career record of 9,695 yards held by Keith Heckendorf. He broke the record in the third quarter on a seven-yard pass completion deep in the Huskies zone to Matt Hentges. On the next play, he hit Taylor Berger on an 86-yard touchdown play. Klaphake finished the game seven of 12 passing for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown on nine carries and equaled his career high for rushing. Klaphake has 9,788 career passing yards and 2,233 career rushing yards and his the first Husky quarterback to throw for over 9,000 yards and rush for over 2,000 in a career.
Senior running back Michael Walker rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on four and two-yard runs. Younger brother Kenneth Walker broke free for a 79-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter and finished the game with seven carries for 96 yards.
Taylor Berger and Dan Brown each had two catches and scored a touchdown apiece. Berger was the recipient of the 86-yard touchdown pass and Brown pulled in a 26-yard scoring catch.
Senior Eric Poggenburg had a game high 12 tackles to lead the Huskies on defense. He collected six solo stops, one sack and two tackles for loss. Tate Christopherson had a solid outing as he had five tackles, half a sack and half a tackle for loss, one fumble recovery and one interception.
The Huskies gained 363 yards on the ground and finished the day with 521 yards of total offense. Bemidji State gained 290 yards of total offense.
The Beavers Avery Walker went over the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the season as he gained 102 yards on 28 carries. He also caught a 55-yard pass for a touchdown.
