Husky Football Gains 38-14 Win over Minot State

The Huskies improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC North. St. Cloud State is 5-0 at home this season and will host MSU-Moorhead in the regular season finale next Saturday. Minot State dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the North division.
Klaphake capped the Huskies opening drive with a four-yard touchdown run to give SCSU the early lead and finished the game with 57 rushing yards. He completed scoring strikes of 17 yards to Michael Walker and 23 yards to Taylor Berger. He needs just 12 passing yards to reach 10,000 yards in his career and would become the third quarterback in NCAA Division II history to reach 10,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in a career.
The Huskies gained 268 yard on the ground as Michael Walker had 22 carries for 87 yards and Kenneth Walker added 39 rushing yards. Chad Peterson caught three passes for 16 yards.
Defensively Eric Poggenburg collected a game high nine tackles. Bo Putrah had a solid stat line with six tackle, one sack, one tackle for loss and two fumble recoveries.
Minot State runningback Jarvis Mustipher gained 110 yards on 23 carries to lead the Beavers. Wayne Peters caught seven passes for 71 yards. The Beavers tied the game 7-7 late in the first quarter on a two-yard Wayne Peters touchdown run. St. Cloud State took a 14-7 lead into halftime. The Huskies stretched the lead to 21-7 and then Minot's Randel Barber found the end zone on a 16-yard dash to close to within a touchdown, 21-14, but the Huskies scored three more times for the win.
St. Cloud State finished the game with 468 yards of total offense while Minot State gained 260 yards.
