Bemidji State Gives Women's Basketball First Season Loss, Huskies Fall 82-99

Bemidji, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team traveled to Bemidji, Minn. to take on the Beavers of Bemidji State University in their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) road game of the year. The Huskies fell to BSU 82-99 in tonight's action.
St. Cloud State falls to 5-1 overall, 1-1 in the NSIC. Bemidji State improves to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
Bemidji State guard Morgan Lee scored the first basket of the game and the Huskies trailed all half until Emma Konopasek (De Pere, Wis.) knocked down a layup with 4:32 on the clock in the opening half to take a 28-27 lead. Lee and Konopasek led the way for their respective teams throughout the contest.
The Huskies trailed 38-41 at the half, but shot just 27% from the field compared to BSU's 58% in the second half, resulting in a deeper deficit.
Morgan Lee led all players in tonight's contest with 33 points for Bemidji State.
Emma Konopasek finished with a career-high 17 points for the Huskies. Konopasek also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, marking her first collegiate double-double.
Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) and Carley Jeffery (Cambridge, Wis.) also finished in double figures this evening. Nooker went three of five from the field and a perfect five for five at the line to finish with 12 points. Jeffery knocked down all six free throw attempts and finished with 10 points.
Rachael Moen (Savage) dished out a team-high four assists and grabbed a team-high five steals.
The Huskies bench kept them in tonight's game as they outscored BSU's bench play, 43-14.
St. Cloud State was outrebounded 38-46.
The Huskies will return to action tomorrow as they travel to Crookston, Minn. to take on the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston.
