Men's basketball finishes regular season with 92-60 win over Bemidji State

St. Cloud, Minn. -- In a special night where St. Cloud State honored its seniors and head coach Kevin Schlagel, the men's basketball team did not disappoint as the Huskies posted a 92-60 win over Bemidji State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action.

The Huskies will host the University of Sioux Falls on Wednesday in a first round game of the 2014 NSIC Sanford Health Tournament. The game time is 8 p.m. and is part of a men's and women's doubleheader. The St. Cloud State women will play at 6 p.m. in their first round tournament game, also against the University of Sioux Falls.
The win marked the 19th victory of the season for the Huskies who enter the postseason with a 19-7 overall record and 15-7 NSIC mark. Bemidji State is now 18-8 overall and 15-7 in the NSIC.
Sophomore guard Jordan Poydras (De Pere, Wis.) scored 30 points, made five three-point baskets, went seven-for-seven from the free throw line and handed out six assists.
The senior class was honored prior to the game and senior guard Damarius Cruz (Plymouth) scored 19 points, dished out three assists and had three steals. Another senior starter, forward Matt Craggs (Kimberly, Wis.) had 14 points and nine rebounds.
Bemidji State was led by Brock Lutes with 19 points. Maxie Rosenbloom had nine points and 11 rebounds. The Beavers shot 36.1 percent from the field and had a 38-37 rebounding edge over the Huskies.
St. Cloud State shot 52.5 percent from the field, made 12 three-point baskets and were 18 of 21 from the free throw line.
The Huskies led this game from start to finish and held a 36-25 advantage at half time.
St. Cloud State honored five seniors, Cruz, Craggs, Chris Larson, Preston McCourt and Nigel Fowler-Canty in a pre-game ceremony.
Head coach Kevin Schlagel was honored with a post-game recognition and reception to celebrate his career with the Huskies as he will retire at the end of the school year.
