Men's basketball hosts Sioux Falls in first round NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament game

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State finished the 2013-14 regular season in a three-way tie for first in the NSIC North Division. The Huskies drew the #3 seed in the north following the tie breaker procedures and host #6 seed in the south, University of Sioux Falls, in a first round game of the 2014 NSIC Sanford Health Tournament at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Halenbeck Hall. The winner will advance to the quarterfinal round on Sunday, Mar. 2 at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., and play the winner of the Winona State vs. Minot State game.

St. Cloud State enters the game with a 19-7 overall record and a 15-7 NSIC mark. The Sioux Falls Cougars bring a 15-11 overall record and 12-10 NSIC mark into the game.

The Huskies are 13-1 on their home court this season, including an 85-73 NSIC win over the University of Sioux Falls on Jan. 11. In that game five Huskies scored in double figures led by Jordan Poydras with a game-high 18 points. Matt Craggs tallied a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. The Cougars led for most of the first half but the Huskies went into intermission with a 39-33 lead. Twice during the second half Sioux Falls pulled within three points of Huskies.
