Huskies Volleyball begins three-game home stand tonight

St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State volleyball team begins a three-game home stand tonight when the Huskies play host to #3 University of Minnesota Duluth at 7 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall.Â
The Huskies will continue the home stand with weekend matches against the University of Sioux Falls on Friday at 7 p.m. and eighth ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday at 4 p.m.

St. Cloud State Notes
- St. Cloud State enters the week with a 6-2 record
- This week marks the beginning of the NSIC schedule. The Huskies were picked to finish 12th in the NSIC preseason coaches poll
- Last year St. Cloud State posted a 14-14 overall record and went 8-12 in the NSIC
- The Huskies are coming off a successfull NSU Dacotah Volleyball Classic posting a 3-1 record with wins over Southwest Baptist, Minnesota Crookston and Minot State. The  lone loss was to the host school #21 Northern State
- Brianne Stamer and Kaitlin Doughty were named to the All-Tournament team over the weekend
- Stamer was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week. She averaged 7.23 digs per set in the tournament with a weekend high of 25 digs against Southwest Baptist
- Stamer leads the NSIC in digs per set this week with a 5.54 average per set
- Doughty had 41 kills, six digs and five block assists in weekend action
- Macy Weller ranks eighth in the NSIC in hitting percentage with a .394 mark
- Erin Ohlemann is fifth in the league in assists, averaging 11.25 assists per set this season
Minnesota Duluth Notes
- The Bulldogs enter the week with a 7-1 record and are ranked #3 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll
- UMD went 3-1 over the weekend at the Colorado Premier Challenge. The Bulldogs posted three set wins over Regis, #4 BYU-Hawaii and Metro State and lost to #2 Tampa in four sets
- Monica Turner and Ashley Hinsch were named to the All-Tournament team
- Turner had 50 kills, a .512 hitting percentage and 11 blocks in the tournament
- Hinsch notched 185 assists for a 14.2 per set average and 21 digs
- UMD leads the NSIC in assists and kills this week
- UMD finished second in the NSIC in 2013 with a 33-3 overall record and 18-2 league mark
- Head coach Jim Boos is in his 13th season with the Bulldogs
University of Sioux Falls Notes
- Sioux Falls brings a 5-4 record into the weekend
- The Cougars posted a 2-3 mark last week in non-conference matches
- Kate Hart led the Cougars in kills over the weekend with 72, including a career-high 21 kills in a match against Fort Hays State
- Kayla Crane averaged 8.05 sets per match
- Sioux Falls leads the NSIC in service aces with an average of 2.06 per set
- Last season USF posted a 19-12 overall record and were 10-10 in the NSIC
- Head coach Joel McCartney is in his fourth season with the Cougars
Southwest Minnesota State
- The Mustangs enter the week ranked #8 in the AVCA and with a 5-3 overall record
- SMSU competed at the Colorado Premier Challenge and posted a 3-1 record with wins over #2 Tampa, Regis and Metro State. The Mustangs lost to Colorado Mesa
- Abbey Thissen was named to the All-Tournament team. She led the Mustangs in kills including 15 in the win over Tampa
- Setter Megan Larson tallied 116 set assists in the tournament and dished out 26 in the win over Tampa
- The Mustangs posted a 24-8 overall record in 2013 and were 17-3 in the NSIC
- Terry Culhane is in his 11th season as head coach of the Mustangs
