SCSU Football Makes Saturday Road Trip To Bemidji State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (4-3, 2-1 NSIC North) is on the road for a pivotal NSIC North Division matchup with Bemidji State (4-3, 3-0 NSIC North) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium.

SCSU will be playing against Bemidji State for the 59th time in a series that started in 1927. The Huskies currently own a 37-18-3 series lead and have won eight of the last 10 games against the Beavers.  St. Cloud State defeated Bemidji State by a 30-27 score in 2014 with the offense putting up 416 yards (160 rush and 256 pass). The Huskies needed to withstand a strong second half comeback of 21 points from the Beavers in the victory. Jaden Huff, in the first start of his collegiate career, ran for 72 yards and a touchdown in the win. The SCSU defense recorded six sacks in the game with Brady Westart picking up a pair of quarterback takedowns. The win was the start of a three-game winning streak to end the 2014 season for the Huskies.

The Huskies won 45-6 in the last game played in Bemidji during the 2013 season. Â SCSU racked up 521 yards of offense including 363 yards on the ground in the win. Phillip Klaphake became the school's all-time leading career passer in the game. Â

SCSU scored 35 points in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit and defeat Minot State by 42-28 score on Oct. 17. The Huskies used a strong second half rushing attack of 301 yards to down the Beavers. SCSU ended up with 368 yards on the ground and sported three 100-yard rushers. Redshirt freshman Curtwan Evans led the charge with 148 rushing yards on his 14 carries plus a touchdown. Senior Ledell White ran for 106 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Jaden Huff ran for 102 yards and a score in the contest. Nate Meyer threw a pair of touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown. Mitch Knutson led the defensive effort with three tackles for loss and two sacks. Jameson Parsons was the team's leading receiver with 44 yards and a touchdown.

Jameson Parsons was held under a 100 yards receiving for the first time in five games against Minot State, but did score a receiving touchdown for the third straight game. Parsons now has five receiving touchdowns on the year. He has also caught 37 passes for 758 yards. His 758 receiving yards is the most in the league, while his average of 20.5 yards a catch is second in the league. Jaden Huff's six-yard touchdown run in the first half was his 10th rushing touchdown of the season. He is second in the NSIC in touchdowns (10) and third in points (60). The touchdown marked the sixth time in seven games this season that Huff has ran for a touchdown. He now has a rushing touchdown in seven of the last eight games dating back to last season. SCSU went 4-for-9 on third down against Minot State and are converting on 55 percent of third downs this season (47-for-86). The conversion rate is the best in the NSIC and ranks them fifth nationally. The Huskies went 5-for-6 in the red zone against Minot State with all scores being touchdowns. SCSU has scored touchdowns on 89 percent of the team's appearances in the red zone this season (31-for-35) and scored on 91 percent (32-for-35) overall of all appearances in the red zone.
