SCSU Football Hosts MSU Moorhead On Halloween

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (4-4, 2-2 NSIC North) returns home to Husky Stadium to host Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival MSU Moorhead (4-4, 1-3 NSIC North) on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. Â Anyone that shows up to the game in a Halloween costume can get football tickets for half price. Also the first 250 people at the game will be given a pint glass courtesy of sponsors Green Mill & Kelly Inn.

SCSU will be playing against MSU Moorhead for the 60th time in a series that started in 1920. The Huskies currently own a 34-23-1 series lead against the Dragons. The last time these two teams played, SCSU earned a 55-27 victory last season with junior quarterback Nate Meyer accounting for four passing touchdowns and two more rushing scores. The last time these two teams played in St. Cloud, the Huskies won by a 64-27 score in 2013. After only playing four times form 1980-2007, the programs have met annually every season since 2008. The Huskies have won eight consecutive games over the Dragons including the last four meetings in St. Cloud. The Huskies have outscored MSUM by a 1,067-803 score all-time, while also tallying 14 shutouts

Despite falling behind early and trailing for much of the first half, SCSU rallied with two Kasai Farris receiving touchdowns in the second quarter to tie the game up at 21 all going into halftime After the break, Bemidji State scored an early touchdown to take the 28-21 lead. SCSU would rally with a touchdown of their own and a originally made the tying extra point that was called back because of a penalty. Â The Huskies then missed the longer extra point and were never able to overcome the Beavers in a 28-27 loss. SCSU recorded the 10th most offensive yards in school history, 573, in the loss. Nate Meyer led the offensive charge in defeat by completing 24-of-36 passes for 361 yards and three scores. Junior receiver Jameson Parsons tied his career-high with nine catches and totaled 157 receiving yards. Senior tight end Grant Thayer tallied five catches for 102 yards and a score. Sophomore Kasai Farris became the third member of the team to record multiple touchdown catches in a game this season with his two touchdowns, four catches and 65 yards against BSU. Senior running back Ledell White led the team in rushing with 15 carries for 81 yards. Redshirt freshman back Curtwan Evans ran for 56 yards and a touchdown on his six carries. Sophomore defensive back Keyshawn Davis recorded a team-high 12 tackles.

Jameson Parsons topped 150 yards receiving for the third time this season with his 157 yards against Bemidji State. Parsons has recorded 100 or more receiving yards in five of the last six games. He currently leads the NSIC in receiving yards, 915, and is placed third nationally. He is also averaging 19.9 yards a catch and has reached the end zone five times. Grant Thayer went over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season and the third time in his career against Bemidji State. Thayer is second on the team and has already established career-highs in both catches (28) and receiving yards (416). Despite being held out of the end zone for only the second time this season and the second time in the last eight games dating back to last season, sophomore running back Jaden Huff still ranks second in the league in rushing touchdowns with 10. Nate Meyer's 361 yards passing against Bemidji State was his third 300+ passing game of the season and the fifth time he has hit the mark in his career. SCSU is eighth nationally in third-down conversions at 52.1 percent (50-for-96). The team is second in the NSIC and 22nd nationally in red zone offense at 88 percent.
