Strong Offensive Effort Leads SCSU Football To A 62-14 Victory Over Minnesota Crookston

Besides Meyer's strong individual effort, redshirt freshman Curtwan Evans picked up 46 yards and a touchdown on his five carries, sophomore Jaden Huff totaled 33 yards and two touchdowns and senior Ledell White ran for 31 yards and a touchdown. Jameson Parsons caught a pair of touchdowns and picked up six catches for 133 yards to lead the receiving effort. Parsons' 100-yard game was his third straight. Senior tight end Grant Thayer hauled in five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Junior Adam Josephson and redshirt sophomore Brady Westart tied for the team lead with six tackles plus half a sack each. Junior defensive lineman Ben Watters had a big effort with a pair of sacks. Joe Schley and Johnnie Brown each had a sack.
The St. Cloud State offense accumulated 28 first downs and 555 yards (246 rushing and 309 passing) in the victory. The SCSU defense had five sacks, eight stops for loss while limited Minnesota Crookston to 226 total yards.
SCSU scored first on its opening drive as Huff rumbled in from four-yards out. Going back to the final game of last season, the touchdown was the sixth straight game that Huff has crossed the goal line. The big play on the drive was a 22-yard rush by Meyer on fourth down to keep the nine play, 78-yard drive going.
Huff added a second touchdown with 1:18 left in the first quarter. The touchdown marked the fourth time on the campaign that Huff has scored multiple touchdowns. Huff's rush completed the seven play, 51-yard drive.
Next, Meyer threw his first touchdown pass of the game as he hooked up with Parsons on a 15-yarder with 14:48 remaining in the second quarter. The drive covered four plays, 68-yards and 1:19 of clock time.
After a three and out forced by the SCSU defense, Meyer took off on a 51-yard touchdown ramble. The run was his second longest of the season for him and increased the Huskies lead to 28-0 after a made Derek Witte extra point with 11:04 left in the second quarter.
A missed UMC 51-yard field goal led to a short field and another SCSU touchdown drive with Meyer completing a 12-yard pass to Thayer. Thayer and Meyer hooked up earlier on the drive for an 18-yard first down reception. The extra point failed, but with 3:29 remaining in the second quarter the Huskies still led 34-0.
Meyer and Parsons connected for the second time in the game to finish off a four play, 58-yard drive and give the Huskies a 41-0 advantage into the break.
White scored the next touchdown, a six-yard rush, for SCSU with 10:48 remaining in the third quarter to finished off a nine play, 70-yard drive.
After threatening a few times, Minnesota Crookston ended the shutout with a Constant Jackson nine-yard touchdown reception from Tra Hearns to make the score 48-7 with just under three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The Huskies started the fourth quarter with redshirt freshman John Pass crossing the goal line on a 13-yard pass from sophomore quarterback McKinley Anderson to finish off a 10-play, 51-yard drive.
Evans scored SCSU's ninth and final touchdown of the game on a nine-yard run with 7:40 remaining in the game.
Minnesota Crookston made the final score 62-14 with Adam Connette on the receiving end of a 23-yard touchdown pass from Hearns.
The Huskies are on the road next and travel to Duluth, Minn. to take on No. 25 Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 10 at 1:05 p.m.

- Jaden Huff has scored a touchdown in every game this season and has four multi-touchdown performances.
- Jameson Parsons, who came into the game leading the conference with an average of 19.9 yards a catch, picked up six catches for 133 yards (average of 22.2 yards a catch) and two touchdowns.
